ADULT: Wingspan - 30 - 35mm. An orange-brown moth with the main ID feature a prominent pure white spot on the forewing. The hindwings are smoky grey. CHRYSALIS: N/A. LARVA: Feeds on a variety of grasses. Overwinters in this stage. BEHAVIOUR: Attracted to light and sugar. HABITAT: Coastal areas, gardens and urban areas. FLIGHT PERIOD: Single brooded. May to November. STATUS: A regular immigrant especially in the south where it is thought to be established. |
